Bank Of America Phishing Scam

Bank Of America Phishing Scam

Here is something scarry to watch out for........ First off let me state that im sure Bank of America has nothing to do with this scam. They are likely a victim here due to their popularity.

I got this in my inbox today. This looks like a very official email from Bank of America stating they are upgrading their security and for my benifit they have disabled or suspended my account. They go on to say I should log in to my account and update my information. They provide a link for you to follow so you can log in using your name and password. Now if I had not been paying attention I may have done it, however I DONT EVEN HAVE A BANK OF AMERICA ACCOUNT! No one in my home has an account with them, so I know for a fact this is a phishing scam to direct me to their site so they can capture my bank information "IF I HAD AN ACCOUNT WITH BANK OF AMERICA".

Now dont get me wrong, Im not a computer scientist. I am only moderatly tech savy, but this one almost had me fooled. It really does look legitimate at first glance. If I had an account with Bank of America I may have followed the link and tried to update my info.

My point with this post is to bring attention to this scam and hope it saves someone from a lot of trouble before they become a victim of identity theft. Here is an image of the email and a copy of the text is found below.
